Last night, Equipped by Faith was so special, as we heard from my dear friend, Amy Vanderoef—best known for her role as the Emmy-nominated Host on WFAA’s Good Morning Texas.

Amy's television career has taken her everywhere from the set of Dancing with the Stars, to ABC’s The View and countless red carpet events! In 2001, she took on a much different challenge when she was crowned Miss Connecticut USA and became the state’s representative at the Miss USA Pageant.

Amy has appeared in dozens of commercials in TV and Print and is also a well-accomplished voice-over artist. She has been a guest star in two ABC daytime dramas; All My Children and One Life to Live, and has worked as a guest correspondent for ABC’s Good Morning America. Currently, Amy is a lifestyle expert contributing on Network TV stations nationwide. She also speaks at dozens of live events each year, acting as MC for many charitable causes, but she currently resides in Dallas with her son, Wyatt—and shared her beautiful heart with us last night!

Q&A with Amy Vanderoef

1. What do you think you were put on this earth for?

My television career and learning to use my gifts from God. Also, my son.

2. What are some of the obstacles you have had to go through to get to this point?

Growing up as the youngest of 5 kids in New York where money was tight. Relocation, divorce, single parenthood, and lack of faith.

3. What motivates or inspires you?

Living a God-centered life motivates me daily. This is new for me—but I love the journey.

4. What advice would you give other women searching for their purpose, passion, & faith?

I didn’t become a true “Christian" until after age 40. After divorce. After I quit my job. After necessary endings. I use my story and testimony as a way to encourage other women to pursue God, and to let God pursue them.

5. What do you want to be remembered for?

I want to be remembered for living a Godly life, and for being a good mom. For encouraging other women to pursue God through struggles and disappointments in life. To use all of their gifts to honor Him.

6. What has been your greatest achievement in life?

My son and buying a home by myself last year.

7. How does what you do reflect what God placed on your heart to share with the world?

Being on TV is no longer gratuitous for me. It’s about having it be time well spent for the viewer. Not about me.

8. What books are you reading?

I like silly reads. Currently, Chick Lit, The New Woman’s Fiction. I need some good new ones, so any suggestions, I’ll take them. 😁

9. How do you stay encouraged & faith-filled?

I talk about my hopes, dreams, and struggles out loud A LOT. I have to be in constant contact verbally with God and in my faith. I really enjoy spreading hope to others in need. I feel like I’m equipped to do that now.

10. Favorite scripture of the moment (or ever)? :)

“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12
